The grimoire

Empathic practice encyclopedia

Sensitivity needs discernment and boundaries.

A field guide to emotional signals, grounding, projection, over-responsibility, and the practices that help an empath stay present without becoming flooded.

When the path tangles, find the thread.

Core concepts

Resonance

An emotion or atmosphere feels familiar or vivid. Resonance is information to examine, not automatic proof of its source.

Emotional contagion

People naturally influence one another’s mood and arousal. Not every shared feeling requires a paranormal explanation.

Projection

A past fear, hope, or story colors the present. Ask what evidence belongs to now.

Hypervigilance

Scanning for danger can feel like intuition. Trauma-informed support can help separate survival pattern from present signal.

Boundary

A limit around access, time, responsibility, touch, information, or emotional labor. A boundary describes your action, not another person’s obedience.

Grounding

Returning attention to breath, senses, body, environment, and observable facts before interpreting a subtle impression.

Discernment

Holding intuition beside context, evidence, uncertainty, bias, and the possibility of being wrong.

Recovery

Quiet, food, water, movement, sleep, nature, routine, and reduced stimulation after emotionally intense contact.

A simple check before you call it intuition

  • What changed in my body?
  • What observable cue may have contributed?
  • Is this familiar from my own history?
  • What do I actually know, and what am I inferring?
  • What boundary helps even if my interpretation is wrong?
